Semi-Final Two: The Qualifiers!

The second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 has just taken place in Malmö, Sweden and we know the countries that are going to the final! Ten countries qualified from this semi-final and completed the final in two days time from both the first semi-final and the Big Six. Here is a list of the countries that qualified:

Hungary: ByeAlex – Kedvesem             Azerbaijan: Farid Mammadov – Hold Me

Georgia: Sophie and Nodi – Waterfall         Romania: Cezar – It’s My Life

Norway: Margaret Berger – I Feed You My Love      Iceland: Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson – Ég á líf

Armenia: Dorians – Lonely Planet             Finland: Krista Siegfrids – Marry Me

Malta: Gianluca Bezzina – Tomorrow             Greece: Koza Mostra – Alcohol Is Free

The semi-final was more varied than the previous one, with all the Scandinavian countries qualified from this semi-final, but not the countries from ex-Yugoslavia. Retuning artist Valentina Monetta from San Marino failed to qualify for the final, despite having mainly positive feedback from fans. The obvious favourites, Norway, Azerbaijan and Finland, all qualified, probably somewhere in the top 5. There were surprises also that Malta and Hungary qualified, as neither song had received any hint that they would be a favourite among fans. Finally, the Greeks qualified, continuing their track record of never missing a final since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, along with Romania, who, being honest, was not a country many fans wanted to qualify. Below is the list of countries in the final (including the Big Six):

  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belarus
  • Belgium
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Georgia
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hungary

  • Italy
  • Lithuania
  • Malta
  • Moldova
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Romania
