The first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest has taken place in Malmö, Sweden just now! Sixteen countries competed, with Italy, the United Kingdom and host country Sweden also voting in this semi-final, with only ten countries going through to the final on Saturday. Here is your list of finalists! Who should have/shouldn’t have qualified???

The ten qualifiers that actually qualified are similar to the ten qualifiers you chose to qualify to the final. The obvious favourite, Denmark, qualified, though the EBU leaving fans waiting to hear the name. Also, Ukraine and Russia were also announced as finalists, along with your top 10. A surprise for people was the qualification of Lithuania and Belgium, as Lithuania had finished last in the semi-final determined by you. Belgium placed tenth in your finalists, and was a surprise qualifier, as no one really expected for them to do well in the competition. The main cause of celebration, though, was the qualification of the Netherlands. The Dutch people have had to wait 9 years to be in the final again and Anouk sealed the deal by qualifying with her song “Birds”, though fans of the song had to wait until the very end to hear The Netherlands being called out.
So these ten songs will perform again in the final on Saturday, along with the ten songs that qualify on Thursday and the Big Six; Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain and the host country of Sweden. Who do you think will qualify for the Grand Final on Thursday? Let me know by your comments!
